Experiential Learning
Nature is part of our classroom. At Del Mar Academy we take time to experience Costa Rica’s amazingly diverse ecosystems. Students from the earliest ages go on day trips and older students take multi-day expeditions to the country’s national parks, volcanos, the Caribbean coast and cultural visits.

Community Service
Students engage in meaningful community service that fosters compassion, problem-solving, leadership skills and collaboration. Whether working on environmental projects at the school or supporting local organizations in Nosara, they learn the importance of contributing positively to both their community and the world.
Montessori Foundations
Our Montessori elementary program for ages 3 and up blends hands-on learning with the natural beauty of Nosara. Children explore independence and problem-solving in thoughtfully prepared indoor classrooms, wide-open outdoor spaces, and during guided field trips. At Del Mar Academy, students are allowed the freedom to safely experience the excitement of learning at their own pace, by their own choice, and in an environment that appeals to their inner needs. Just minutes from the beach, students connect with nature every day on our 11 acre campus while building confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.
IB Middle School
Our bilingual middle school program not only provides rigorous instruction in core International Baccalaureate (IB) subjects - Science, Math, Social Studies, English, and Spanish Humanities - but also integrates hands-on, experiential multi-day field trips that bring learning to life. By exploring Costa Rica’s unique biodiversity and an extraordinary range of ecosystems, students develop critical thinking, collaboration, and a deeper connection to the world around them. Del Mar Academy is a candidate school for the IB Middle Years Programme and will host its authorization visit of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) in January 2026.
IB Diploma Program
Our international high school program includes 10th grade pre-diploma and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme for 11th and 12th grades. The IB Diploma Programme is a challenging, world-renown curriculum that builds academic strength, language skills, and personal growth, preparing students for success in college and in life. Recognized by top universities worldwide, Del Mar Academy’s high school program develops not just academic strength but also character, creativity, and purpose - all within a supportive, nature-connected environment.
